GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team was defeated by New York University 8-1 in a non-conference contest inside Bristol Field House this morning. The Herons are now 2-5 on the season while the Violets improve to 2-3.
New York University took a 2-1 lead in the match at the end of doubles play. The Violets won 8-2 in the No. 1 spot and 8-1 in the No. 3 spot.
Isabelle Goings-Perrot and
Julia Pida earned William Smith's point with a victory in the No. 2 spot. They defeated Emily Baxter and Jimena Menendez 8-6. Goings-Perrot and Pida are now 3-4 in doubles play this season.
New York University won all six singles matches in straight sets. The Violets did not lose a game in three of the six matches.
The Herons will be back in action Wednesday, March 30, when it welcomes Nazareth to the HWS Tennis Center. The Non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
