ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Senior Maggie Bonomo and first-year Isabelle Goings-Perrot were double winners, but the William Smith College tennis team was edged by Rochester Institute of  Technology, 5-4, in a Liberty League contest this afternoon. The Herons are now 3-10 on the year with a 0-4 record in the Liberty League. With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-5 overall this season with a 2-3 mark in Liberty League play.
 
William Smith took a 2-1 lead in the match after doubles play. Bonomo and Audrey Camacho collected their third straight victory in the No. 1 spot. They defeated Jacki Drozd and Gabby Donohue, 8-5. With the victory, Bonomo and Camacho are now 10-7 overall this season with an 8-5 mark in the No. 1 spot. Goings-Perrot and Julia Pida knocked off Julianne Ho and Abby Muray, 8-3. Goings-Perrot and Pida are now 7-6 overall this season, playing all 13 matches in the No. 2 spot. RIT won 8-0 in the No. 3 spot.
 
The Tigers rallied to win the match thanks to four straight-set singles victories. In the No. 1 spot, Bonomo bested Drozd without losing a game. She won 6-0, 6-0 for her team-leading 13th singles win of the season. Bonomo is 13-8 with an 8-5 record in the top spot.  Goings-Perrot extended her winning streak to two matches with a win in the No. 2 spot. In her first match playing in the second spot, She beat Gabby Donohue, 6-1, 6-2. Goings-Perrot is 12-7 this year.
 
The Herons will be back in action on Friday, April 15, when they return to Geneva to take on Ithaca. The Liberty League match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
