Bombers down Herons 6-3

GENEVA, N.Y.—Senior Maggie Bonomo and junior Audrey Camacho were double winners, but the William Smith College tennis team was defeated by Ithaca College 6-3 in a Liberty League match inside Bristol Field House this afternoon. The Herons are now 3-11 this season with a 0-5 record in conference play.
 
Originally scheduled to be played at the HWS Tennis Center, the match was moved inside the field house due to high winds in the area.
 
The Bombers (9-4, 2-2) took a 2-1 lead following doubles play, winning in the No 2 and 3 spots. William Smith earned its point at the top of the ladder. Bonomo and Camacho defeated Rebecca Andrews and Lauren Rodriguez, 8-2. It was the duo's fourth-straight victory. Bonomo and Camacho are now 11-7 overall this season with a 9-5 mark in the No. 1 spot.  
 
Bonomo beat Rodriguez for the second time in the No. 1 singles spot. She did not lose a game, securing a 6-0, 6-1 victory. With her fourth-straight singles win, Bonomo is 14-8 overall this year with a 9-5 mark in the No. 1 spot. Camacho bested Andrews, 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 2 spot. With the victory, Camacho is now 8-9 this year with a 7-6 mark in the No. 2 spot. In the closest match of the day, Isabelle Goings-Perrot was edged by Alexandra Dyszewski 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. Ithaca won the other three singles matches in straight sets.
 
William Smith will be back in action Saturday, April 23, when it takes on Bard. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the HWS Tennis Center.
