GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team swept Bard, 9-0, in a Liberty League contest at the HWS Tennis Center this afternoon. The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Herons, who are now 4-11 overall on the season with a 1-5 mark in conference play.
William Smith took control of the match, winning all three doubles matches 8-0.
Maggie Bonomo and
Audrey Camacho improved to 11-7 in doubles matches with their fourth straight victory. They are 9-5 in the No. 1 doubles spot.
Isabelle Goings-Perrot and
Julia Pida improved to 8-6 in the No. 2 spot with their win.
Jamie Fine and
Crystal Morgans rounded out doubles play in the No. 3 spot. It was their first win as a duo.
Bonomo gave the Herons a 4-0 lead in the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Maya Kelly in the No. 1 singles spot. It was Bonomo's team-leading 14th win of the season. Goings-Perrot did not lose a game as she beat Lapis Dove, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot. Goings-Perrot is 13-7 on the season. Camacho, Pida and
Jamie Fine also won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Crystal Morgans closed out the match with her first collegiate victory. She beat Victoria Bagatcholon, 6-0, 6-1.
William Smith will conclude its three-match homestand tomorrow, April 24, when it welcomes Skidmore to Geneva. The match at the HWS Tennis Center is scheduled for 11 a.m.
