Hobart hosts Mount St. Mary’s on Senior Day

4/29/2022 12:12:00 PM

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team will host Mount St. Mary's University in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday, April 30. Prior to the 2 p.m. faceoff, the Statesmen will recognize nine seniors playing their final game on Boswell Field.

The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3 in Geneva). Fans can watch the game on HWS All-Access and track the action with Live Stats.

During a pregame ceremony, Hobart will honor seniors Bryce Benham, Ryan Dickson, Brian Mitrow and Cam Vona as well as fifth-year seniors Ryan Archer, Frank Imburgia, Tommy Mott, Dan Ryan and Wylie Sherman.

Archer leads Hobart with 52 points, which is fifth on the program's Division I era season list. He also paces the team with 31 assists, which ranks third on the DI era season list, three away from second place and seven off the record. Archer is third in the nation in assists per game (3.1) and 11th in points per game (5.2). He is tied for the team lead with Derrek Madonna with 21 goals. Faceoff specialist Adam Shea has won 53.7% of his faceoffs this season and leads the team with 83 ground balls, 10th on the DI era season list. He's ninth in the nation in ground balls per game.

Senior Jared McMahon paces the Mountaineers' offense with 31 points on 21 goals and 10 assists. Sophomore defenseman Mitchell Dunham has 43 ground balls and a team-high 24 caused turnovers. Gunnar Luckoski has started the past two games in goal for the Mount. He is 1-1 with a 10.27 GAA and a .550 save percentage in five appearances this season.

The Statesmen (5-5, 3-3 NEC) and Mountaineers (5-9, 2-4) are vying for the fourth and final spot in the four-team Northeast Conference Tournament. According to the NEC's tiebreakers, there are 16 possible combinations of outcomes on the final day of the regular season. In all but two of those scenarios, the Statesmen claim the last spot, including 12 that see Hobart earn the No. 3 seed and two as the No. 4 seed.

The Mount can only get in the tournament if they beat the Statesmen, Merrimack (6-5, 3-3) beats Saint Joseph's (11-3, 6-0) and LIU (6-7, 3-3) beats Sacred Heart (3-9, 1-5). In that scenario, Mount St. Mary's will be the No. 4 seed.

This will be the ninth meeting between Hobart and Mount St. Mary's with the Statesmen leading the series 6-2. Hobart swept the home-and-home series last season, prevailing 13-9 in the Poole Family Sports Dome and taking their visit to Emmitsburg, Maryland, by the same score two weeks later.
