Thirty-eight Hobart and William Smith Colleges student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors when the spring sport teams were announced by the conference office today. The Herons' nationally-ranked lacrosse team led the way with 13 honorees.

To be recognized as a member of the Liberty League All-Academic Team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with at least a year at their current institution and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. In addition to the baker's dozen recognized from William Smith lacrosse, both the Hobart and William Smith rowing teams had seven athletes make the grade, Hobart tennis saw six Statesmen selected, three from William Smith golf made the cut, while Hobart golf and William Smith tennis each had one player make the team.

William Smith lacrosse is 17-1 and ranked ninth in the nation in the latest coaches poll heading into the NCAA tournament. The Liberty League Champion Herons will face No. 18 Messiah (13-5) at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 15 on Boswell Field.

Hobart rowing won its 16th consecutive Liberty League Championship and is awaiting the selection of crews for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. William Smith rowing finished fourth at the Liberty League Championships.

Hobart tennis was 16-7 overall this season. The Statesmen were the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament and advanced to the semifinals before falling to No. 2 Skidmore 5-3. William Smith tennis was 4-13 this season.

William Smith golf was sixth at the Liberty League Championships, while Hobart golf finished seventh at the league tournament.
