Herons compete at ITA Northeast Regionals

Box Score CLINTON, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team had two players compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women's Northeast Regional Championships this weekend at Hamilton College.

The action for the Herons began with the pairing of sophomore Isabelle Goings-Perrot and first-year Haley Levine taking on Catherine Gamble and Molly Jespersen of St. Lawrence University. The Herons defeated the Saints in doubles action by a score of 8-6 to advance to the round of 16 where they took on the second-seeded pairing of Dakota Fordham and Ida Krause from NYU on Saturday morning. The Herons fell an 8-1 decision to the Violets. The duo from NYU went on to be crowned champions of the doubles bracket.

In singles action, Goings-Perrot took on Gamble with the Saint prevailing 1-6, 6-4, 10-6. Levine took on Charlotte Roarty from The College of New Jersey in her singles match, falling 6-1, 6-2.

The ITA regional championships mark the conclusion of the fall season for the Herons. William Smith will be back in action in the spring with its first matchup against SUNY Oneonta on March 5.
