SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Hobart College senior
Jackson Meshanic recorded his Liberty League leading eighth double-double of the season on 25 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in a 69-66 loss to Skidmore College this evening.
Meshanic scored 19 points in the second half, including a pair of free throws that tied the game at 66 with 11 seconds remaining. The Thoroughbreds answered on a step-back jumper from Riley Green with 1.8 seconds left to reclaim the lead. Skidmore intercepted Hobart's three-quarters court inbounds pass and the Statesmen were whistled for a foul. Mark Engel iced the victory by making 1-of-2 at the line.
Meshanic was 8-of-17 shooting with a 3-pointer and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. He was joined in double figured by his brother, sophomore
Carter Meshanic, who posted 11 points, six rebounds and a team-high four assists. Senior
Patrick Walker chipped in eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Skidmore's Tautvydas Kupstas led all scorers with 27 points. Green contributed 22 points and Engel logged four points and a team-high eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was closely contest with Skidmore taking a 30-26 lead into the break thanks to a 7-0 run over the final three minutes.
- The Thoroughbreds never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 13 as late as the 5:21 mark.
- Sophomore Aidan Rodgers kick-started Hobart's ill-fated rally with a 3-pointer. He then came up with a steal that led to a dunk by Jackson Meshanic.
- Sophomore forward Carter Meshanic scored the game's next five points, including a traditional 3-point play that pulled the Statesmen within three, 60-57, with 3:43 remaining.
- Skidmore pushed its lead back out to seven, but Jackson Meshanic keyed an 8-1 Hobart run tying the game at 66.

- Hobart outrebounded Skidmore 43-39 and enjoyed a 13-0 advantage in second chance points.
- The Thoroughbreds shot 41.7% from the floor and 70.6% at the free throw line, while the Statesmen made 38.1% from the floor and 53.8% at the line.
