GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College ice hockey team was edged by Johnson & Wales University 3-2 in overtime in a New England Hockey Conference contest at the New England Sports Village this afternoon. The Herons are now 9-10-1 on the season with a 7-7-0 mark in conference play.
Paige Henault factored into all three goals, scoring twice for the Wildcats (5-12-3, 5-7-2). Leah White started in goal and made 34 saves in goal for Johnson and Wales.
Annie Hauser went the distance in goal for William Smith and made 10 saves.

- William Smith finished the game with a 36-13 advantage in shots on goal.
- Neither team scored a power-play goal. The Herons were 0-for-7, and the Wildcats were 0-for-6 with the extra skater.
THE WINNER
- Henault scored the game-winning goal with 58 seconds remaining in overtime. She collected a pass from Cassidy Rockwood and tucked the shot past Hauser. It was Henault's third goal of the season.
- The Herons had a chance to win the game in the extra session, but White stopped all three William Smith shots in overtime.
SCORING SUMMARY
- The Herons opened the scoring at the 16:13 mark of the second period. Kayla Ketchabaw snapped a shot from the low slot past White for her ninth goal of the season. The unassisted goal game with both teams playing down a skater.
- Henault tied the game just over a minute later. Her second goal of the season was assisted by Kylie O'Keefe and Allyson Barry.
- Emma Faso's fourth goal of the season gave William Smith a 2-1 lead seven minutes into the third period. Her shot squeaked through White's legs.
- Zoe Tow tied the game at the 13:07 mark of the third period. Her first goal of the season was assisted by Henault.
