12/4/2023 3:15:00 PM

For the second week in a row, Hobart College junior forward Carter Meshanic was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office. He averaged 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds and led the Statesmen to a pair of league road wins over the weekend.

At Union on Friday, Meshanic scored a game and season-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting, shared game-high honors with eight rebounds, logged a game-high three steals and dished out a pair of assists as the Statesmen won 81-66. At Vassar the following afternoon, he posted a game-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 day at the line. Meshanic also contributed five rebounds and two blocked shots in the 69-58 win over the Brewers.

For the week, Meshanic shot 73.1% from the floor and 81.8% at the free throw line.

Through six games, Meshanic is averaging 16.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.3 spg. He's shooting .563 from the floor and .703 at the free throw line. Meshanic leads the league in shooting percentage and is third in rebounding and fourth in scoring.

The two weekend wins ran Hobart's record to 6-0, matching the program record for wins to start a season. In each of the Statesmen's past three games, the team has rallied from a double-digit deficit on the road.

Hobart returns to Bristol Gym for the first time in nearly a month when the Statesmen host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (3-4, 1-1) on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
