CANTON, N.Y.— The William Smith College basketball team fell to St. Lawrence 82-59 in a Liberty League matchup in Ronald T. Burkman Gymnasium this afternoon. The Herons fall to 6-14 overall and 4-9 in conference play, while the Saints move to 11-7 overall with an 8-5 mark in conference play.
Three Herons posted double digit points in Friday night's conference defeat. Junior
Brooke Jarvis posted a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds while sophomore
Maddie Patrick posted 12 points and six rebounds. Senior
Lauren DeVaney chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds for the Herons.

HERON STAT LEADERS
FIRST HALF
- The Herons went on a 4-0 run to start the game thanks to layups from Jarvis and DeVaney.
- The Saints responded with a 4-0 run of their own finding all four points from Cam Roberts.
- William Smith and St. Lawrence would trade points with both teams knocking down three three-pointers in the first quarter. Sophomore's Molly Walsh and Maddie Patrick along with first-year Carly Scott all drained deep three pointers to keep the Herons in the game.
- William Smith shot 60% from behind the arc in the opening ten minutes but found themselves down 21-18 heading into the second quarter.
- The second quarter started right where the game left off, with both teams combining for four more three-pointers. Jarvis would hit the lone shot from behind the arc for the Herons.
- The Saints shooting from behind the arc improved as the game went on, hitting seven three-pointers in the second quarter alone.
- Jarvis and Patrick combined for 16 points and seven rebounds as the Herons found themselves down 17 heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- After sharing the early points to start the second half, the Saints went on a 13-4 run over the span of 6:40.
- Jarvis would respond with six points in the third quarter but couldn't gain the momentum needed to make a big cut into the Saints lead.
- William Smith came out firing in the fourth with senior Kerstin Kelly and Walsh converting three-pointers to try and spark a comeback.
- The Herons would find points from Jarvis, Patrick and DeVaney to push a 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter to cut their deficit to under 20.
- The Saints sharp shooting from behind the arc created a large enough lead that found William Smith struggling to come back from. St. Lawrence would close out the contest on top 82-59 despite the late efforts.

William Smith will be back in action tomorrow as it heads to Potsdam, New York, to take on Clarkson in a Liberty League matchup. Tipoff between the Herons and the Golden Knights is set for 2 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium.
