BRONX, N.Y.— The Hobart College tennis team fell to New York University (NYU) this afternoon, 7-2, in a nonconference matchup at the Stadium Tennis Center. The Statesmen fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Violets move to 4-2.
NYU started the match with an early 2-1 lead in doubles action. Alex Yang and Zachary Freier won for the Violets, 8-6 at the No. 1 spot over senior

Sean Pesin. At the No. 3 spot, Andy Watterson and Joseph He edged first-year
Nick Fischer and sophomore
Nick Grosso, 8-2.

Harry Lyu earned the point for the Statesmen in an intense battle at the No. 2 spot, winning 8-5 against Boren Zheng and Alex Lee.
In singles action, NYU grabbed five out of the six match points. Fischer won for the second time this weekend at the No. 5 spot, defeating Rumaish Khastgir 4-6, 6-1, 10-8. Sophomore Hyatt Oyer put up a good fight at the No. 4 spot but was edged by He,6-0, 4-6, 11-9.

The Hobart and William Smith tennis teams will travel down to Florida next week and will take on four non-conference opponents. The Herons will face Luther College on Monday, March 20, at the USTA National Tennis Center to kick off the week of competition.
