BRONX, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team was swept by New York University (NYU), 9-0, in a non-conference matchup this afternoon at the Stadium Tennis Center. The Herons fall to to 2-2 on the season, while the Violets stay undefeated at 4-0.
In doubles action, NYU took the lead earning all three doubles points. The Violets clipped the Herons 8-0 at the No. 1 spot and 8-2 at the No. 2 spot, defeating sophomore

Marin Montagne and sophomore
Natalie Haythorn fell in the No. 3 spot, 8-3.
NYU secured the match in singles play, winning all 6 matches. Haythorn put up a good fight in the No. 4 spot but was edged 2-6, 6-2, 13-15 in a nail-biting match by Glenda Boeker.

The Hobart and William Smith tennis teams will travel down to Florida next week and will take on four non-conference opponents. The Herons will face Luther College on Monday, March 20, at the USTA National Tennis Center to kick off the week of competition.
