ORLANDO, Fla.—The Hobart College tennis team (6-3) won another pair of matches today at the USTA national campus, going 5-0 on the week. The Statesmen downed Hamilton College (2-6), 8-1, followed by a 7-2 defeat over Salisbury University (6-4).
Hobart started the match against the continentals with a 2-1 lead in doubles action. The 14th nationally ranked doubles duo of senior
Jett Wright and junior
Sean Pesin defeated Connor Griff and Matt Bartok, 8-3 at the No. 1 position, while first-year's Nick Fisher and
Aidan Staunton defeated Eric Stein and Nicolas Gritz, 8-4, in the No. 3 spot.
The Statesmen secured the match winning all six singles matches. Pesin topped the 41st nationally ranked singles player, Griff, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9, to earn his third straight win over nationally ranked opponents in the No. 1 spot.
Senior
Harry Lyu bested Anson Anderson at the No. 2 position in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, as well as junior
Winter Fagerberg against Bantok at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 4 spot, sophomore Hyatt Oyer defeated Stein in a thrilling match, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 10-6, while Fisher downed Gritz, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 5 spot.
Sophomore
Jacob Linares clinched the victory for the Statesmen beating Gianni Esposito, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 to grab Hobart's fifth point in the first match.
In Hobart's second match of the day, the Statesmen earned two of the three doubles points against the Sea Gulls. The 8th regionally ranked doubles duo of Lyu and Steiner defeated Gianluca Beaujon and Aron Bursztyn, 8-3, at the No. 1 position, while Fisher and Staunten bested Jhayden Pappas and Russel Willenborg at the No. 2 spot, 8-7.
In singles play, Hobart clinched the victory, earning five out of the six singles points, bringing the final score to 7-2 in favor of the Statesmen. At the No.1 position Oyer defeated Beaujon in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while Fisher beat Pappas , 6-7, 6-1, 10-7, in the No. 2 spot.
At the No. 3 position, Sophomore
Nick Grosso edged Willenborg in a close match, 7-5, 6-7, 10-8, as well as Steiner against Bursztyn, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, at the No. 4 spot.
Wright clinched the victory for the Statesmen at the No. 5 position, downing Christopher Catan, 7-5, 6-4, for his second singles victory of the week.

Hobart will wrap up its trip through the Sunshine State tomorrow, March 23, when it takes on Trinity College (Conn.) (3-3). The match between the Statesmen and the Bantams is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
