GENEVA, N.Y.— On Wednesday, March 30, the William Smith College tennis team will face off against Nazareth College (8-4) in Bristol Field House in a non-conference matchup. First serve between the Herons (4-4) and the Golden Flyers is set for 4 p.m.
The Herons are coming off a 2-2 week in Orlando, Florida, at the USTA National Campus. William Smith grabbed victories over Oglethorpe University and St. Catherine University, but fell in two tight matches to Luther College and Salisbury University.
The Golden Flyers are coming off a month break after falling to RIT, 9-0, on Feb. 28. Nazareth and William Smith competed earlier this fall at the Mary Hosking Invitational held at the HWS Tennis Center. In the invitational, sophomore
Isabelle Goings-Perrot defeated Claire Pullen, 8-0.
ABOUT THE HERONS
- First-year Haley Levine is 5-2 at the No. 2 spot.
- Senior Audrey Camacho has gone 4-4 at the No. 3 spot.
- Levine and Goings-Perrot lead the Herons in doubles action, going 5-3 on the season.
- Levine was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week after going 7-1 on spring break. She went 4-0 in singles action and 3-1 in doubles play.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLYERS
- Aliya Guzman holds an 8-0 record at the No. 1 spot.
- Catherine Zak and Claire Pullen are 7-1 at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
- Pullen and Guzman are 9-1 in the No. 1 doubles spot.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Herons hold a 23-1 edge over the Golden Flyers in the series, including a 15-1 advantage in Geneva.
- The last time William Smith and Nazareth met, the Herons defeated the Golden Flyers 7-2 on March 30, 2022.
- Goings-Perrot and sophomore Julia Pida defeated Lily Bulkeley and Katelyn Spath 8-0 in the No. 2 spot.
- Camacho defeated Pullen 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot.
