Game Recap: Hobart Lacrosse | | Ken DeBolt

Bach nets career-high 6 against Big Green

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College junior midfielder Chad Bach scored a career-high six goals, but visiting Dartmouth College got a game-high seven goals from first-year midfielder Emmett Paradine to escape the Poole Family Dome with a 20-16 non-conference win. The Big Green improved to 4-0 on the season, while the Statesmen slip to 3-3.

Bach, who's previous career-high was a hat trick at Sacred Heart last season, scored three times in the fourth quarter alone. Junior attackman Anthony Dattellas posted a five-point game, logging two goals and three assists. Senior attackman Troy Barthelme added three points on two goals and an assist.

Coming off a five-point performance in a win over Siena, Paradine finished today's game with 10 points. Colin McGill added five goals for Dartmouth, while Quinn Moore (1-3) and Nate Davis (3-1) each recorded four points.

KEY STAT
  • The high scoring affair turned on possession, especially in the second half when Dartmouth had more of it. After halftime, the Big Green outshot the Statesmen 27-20 and enjoyed a 24-15 edge in ground balls.

BATTLE AT THE X
  • Dartmouth won 21-of-39 faceoffs on the day with senior Mitchell Myers taking all of the restarts for the Big Green.
  • Senior Adam Shea was 17-of-38 for the Statesmen. He was injured on the penultimate faceoff. First-year Seamus Schofield won the final restart of the day.
  • Shea and Myers shared game-high honors with 13 ground balls apiece.

A GAME OF RUNS
  • After the teams traded goals in the opening minutes, Hobart used a 6-0 run that spanned the first two quarters for a 7-1 lead. Bach scored twice during the surge.
  • Dartmouth steadied the ship and even the score with a six-goal run of its own. McGill scored three times during the comeback and knotted the game at 7 with just under five minutes left in the half.
  • Bach and McGill scored once more to send the teams into the break tied at 8.
  • Dartmouth took leads of 9-8 and 11-9, but each time, Hobart fought back to tie.
  • With a 5-1 run, the Big Green reclaimed the lead for good. Paradine scored three times during the run.
  • Hobart used a timeout after Dartmouth took a 16-12 lead. The break steadied the Statesmen, who responded with three straight goals to make it a one-goal game.
  • Bach's fifth goal at the 8:29 mark, made it 16-15 and forced the Big Green to burn a timeout.
  • Shea won the ensuing faceoff for Hobart, but Dartmouth was able to get a defensive stop.
  • The Statesmen did the same at the other end of the field, forcing the Big Green into their second shot clock violation of the game.
  • Unfortunately, Hobart had its only failed clear of the game and Dartmouth scored back-to-back goals to hold off the Statesmen.

UP NEXT
  • Hobart will be back in action March 18, when it faces Providence in Sparks, Maryland. Dartmouth is off until the following day, playing at North Carolina on March 19.
