Statesmen edged by #29 Skidmore 5-4

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Hobart College tennis team (8-4) was clipped 5-4 this morning by No. 29 Skidmore College (7-5) in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The Statesmen fall to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the Liberty League, while the Thoroughbreds move to 7-5 overall with a 4-0 mark in conference play.
 
The Thoroughbreds took a 2-1 lead in doubles action. No. 11 regionally ranked doubles duo, senior Jett Wright and junior Sean Pesin earned the point for the Statesmen, defeating No. 3 regionally ranked, Brendan Jimenez and Nika Mori in thrilling fashion, 8-7 (7-3).
 
In singles play, Hobart shared the points with Skidmore, winning three out of the six matches. Sophomore Hyat Oyer defeated Mori at the No. 4 spot, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.
 
At the No. 5 spot, first-year Nick Fischer topped Jude Ogilvie, 6-2, 6-2, while sophomore Jacob Linares bested Kyle Lundberg in an exciting match, 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 at the No. 6 spot.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Union College (3-5) in Schenectady, N.Y. for its third and final match of the weekend. First serve between the Statesmen and the Dutchmen is set for 2 p.m.
