SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Hobart College tennis team downed Union College, 9-0, this afternoon in a conference matchup. The Statesmen now move to 2-1 in Liberty League play and 9-4 overall, while the Dutchmen fall to 2-2 in conference play and 3-6 overall.
Hobart started the match with an early lead, earning all three of the doubles points. Senior
Jett Wright and junior
Sean Pesin defeated Ben Jacobs and Dimitris Binopoulos, 8-5 at the No. 1 spot.
Senior
Harry Lyu and sophomore
Troy Steiner beat Aidan O'Brien and Seth Prusko in the No. 2 position, 8-4, as well as first-year's
Nick Fischer and
Aidan Staunton against Ian Schunk and Austin Gregory, 8-4 at the No. 3 spot.
Hobart secured the match in singles play, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. No. 22 regionally ranked singles player, Pesin, edged Jacobs at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4).
Lyu bested Binopoulos 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, while junior
Winter Fagerberg topped Khai Ton, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot.
At the No. 4 position, sophomore
Hyat Oyer swept O'Brien, 6-2, 6-0, as well as Fisher at No. 5 against Schunk, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Nick Grosso defeated Tommy McGuire, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.

Hobart will be on the hunt for their third conference win when they take on the University of Rochester (5-6) on Wednesday, April 5, in Bristol Field House. First serve between the Statesmen and the Yellowjackets is set for 4 p.m.
