HENRIETTA, N.Y.—The Hobart College baseball team wrapped up its three-game season series with Rochester Institute of Technology with a doubleheader at the RIT Baseball Complex this afternoon. The Tigers took Game 1 15-4 and Game 2 7-6 in extra innings.
First-year
Will Jones led the Statesmen at the plate, going 4-for-9 on the day with two runs scored and an RBI. On the hill, sophomore
Griffin Snyder gave Hobart a quality start in the second game, going six innings and allowing just three runs.
GAME 1
- RIT jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Chris Reilly delivered the big blow, a three-run double.
- The Tigers pushed across five more runs in the second and three in the third to stretch their lead to 12-0.
- First-year Colin Hoey broke up the shutout in the fourth inning, with a two-run double to center.
- In the fifth inning, first-year Jeremy Sanchez singled to bring home a pair of Statesmen.
- RIT tacked on three more runs in the seventh to close out the win.
- First-year Christian Petry was 2-for-3 with a double for Hobart.
GAME 2
- Snyder slowed down the Tigers' bats, striking out a season-high eight while allowing seven hits and three runs.
- RIT again scored first on a second inning home run, but Hobart fought back with three runs in the top of the third.
- Junior Ty Gallagher's double brought home Petry, Sanchez scored on a wild pitch, and Jones singled home Gallagher.
- Snyder cruised through the third, fourth and fifth, facing just two over the minimum number of batters.
- RIT managed to tie the game in the six, but Snyder worked out of the jam.
- The Statesmen reclaimed the lead in the eighth on Nate Garrett's RBI single. Hobart made it a two-run lead with a double steal as Garrett swiped second and Jones scored.
- The Tigers forced extra innings with single runs in the eighth and ninth.
- Junior Joe McCoy singled home Garrett in the top of the 10th for a 6-5 Hobart lead.
- RIT loaded the bases with three straight singles to start the bottom half of the inning.
- The Tigers tied the game with a sacrifice bunt and walked it off on Charlie Slaymaker's single.
FOR THE RECORD
- RIT improved to 15-12 overall, 8-5 in the Liberty League.
- Hobart dropped to 8-18, 2-11.

- The Statesmen will return to McDonough Park for a non-conference game against Wells College at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26.
