The William Smith College tennis team will welcome Daemen University to Geneva Sunday, Sept. 10, for its first dual match of the season. First serve is scheduled for noon at the HWS Tennis Center.
The Herons are well prepared for their match up with the Wildcats after a successful showing at last week's annual Mary Hosking Invitational with sophomore
Haley Levine carrying the Herons in both the A flight singles as well as the A flight doubles with junior
Natalie Haythorn.
First-years
Mae Kellersman and
Grace Magna also had a great performance in their first collegiate outing. The Heron pair made it to the B Flight doubles consolation final where they defeated Geneseo's Abigail Rockwood and Katie Kujawa, 8-3.
The Wildcats took part in the Allegheny College Invitational this past weekend, where they went 3-12 in singles play and 2-9 in doubles action over the two-day tournament.
Last season, William Smith clipped Daemen 5-4. Sophomore
Maddy Buck shined for the Herons, grabbing crucial points in both singles and doubles action. After winning her doubles match with senior
Jamie Fine, she won in thrilling fashion as she took the tiebreaker, 7-3, over Mackenzie Schayes to clinch the victory for the Herons.
