POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team was defeated by 13th-ranked Vassar 3-0 in a Liberty League contest on Gordon Field this afternoon.
Junior
Thomas Chyzowych started in goal for the Statesmen (1-5-4, 1-2-2). He made four saves.
Clem Grossman had a goal and an assist for the Brewers (9-2-0, 4-0-0). Jacob Raphan played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save as he earned the shutout.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vassar finished the game with a 14-6 advantage in shots, including a 9-1 edge in the second half.
- The Brewers had three corner kicks and Hobart had two.
MATCH MOMENTS
- Vassar opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Arden Tobolski notched his ninth goal of the season. He collected a feed from Eli Torrey and slipped a shot past Chyzowych.
- Just over a minute later, Torrey nearly gave Vassar a 2-0 lead but his shot was stopped by the Hobart goalie.
- First-year Will Slayton had a chance to tie the game. His shot from inside the 18-yard box that was turned aside by Raphan.
- The Brewers took a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute when Duncan Keker notched his second goal of the season. Grossman was awarded an assist on the goal.
- In the 43rd minute, junior Steven Pickering fired a shot off of the crossbar.
- Grossman added an insurance goal in the 75th minute. His first goal of the season was assisted by Mauricio Mejia.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 13, when it welcomes Utica to Cozzens Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
