GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team scored twice in the first half and never looked back as it knocked off Utica 2-0 in a non-conference contest on a rainy afternoon on Cozzens Field.
Sophomore
La Zai Outerbridge factored into both of Hobart's goals in the win. Junior
Thomas Chyzowych played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves.
Zachary Accetta and Eduardo Paez split time in goal for the Pioneers. They combined to make four saves.

- With the win, Hobart improves to 2-5-4 on the season.
- Utica falls to 2-6-6 overall.

MATCH MOMENTS
- Utica had the game's first scoring opportunity, but Cody Baker-Green's chance was turned aside by a diving Chyzowych.
- Outerbridge opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute. Paez got his hand on the attempt, but the momentum carried the ball over the goal line. It was his second goal of the season.
- The Statesmen took a 2-0 lead on a Utica own goal. After dribbling around the Utica goalie, Outerbridge fired a shot on goal from a tight angle. In an attempt to clear the ball over the endline, a Pioneer defender inadvertently kicked the ball into his own net.
- Utica nearly broke up the shutout bid in the 22nd minute, but Baker-Green fired a shot from 20 yards out off of the crossbar.
- Sophomore Keegan Mulroony had a chance to give Hobart a 3-0 lead, but his shot hit the left goal post.
- Mulroony had another chance in the 55th minute that was cleared off of the goal line by a Utica defender.
- In the closing minutes, first-year Thomas Coughlin had a shot turned aside by Accetta and Outerbridge fired a shot that trickled wide left.

Hobart will be back in action next weekend, Oct. 18-19, when it hosts Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Union for its final two home games of the regular season. The Statesmen will take on the Engineers on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Garnet Chargers on Saturday at 2 p.m.
