ITHACA, N.Y.—The 11th-ranked William Smith soccer team was edged by Ithaca, which was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll, 1-0 in a Liberty League contest on Carp Wood Field this afternoon.
Kirsten Nelson played all 90 minutes in goal for William Smith and made three saves.
Ally Stanton scored for Ithaca. Grace Hickey started in goal and made three saves.

- With the loss, William Smith falls to 5-3-2 overall with a 1-1-1 mark in conference play.
- Ithaca is 7-0-3 overall with a 2-0-0 mark in Liberty League play.

- The Herons finished the game with an 8-6 advantage in shots, but the Bombers had a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
- William Smith had five corner kicks and Ithaca had three.

- William Smith nearly opened the scoring in the second minute. Senior Ireland Krawczyk had a shot from near the penalty spot blocked by an Ithaca defender.
- Ithaca scored the game's lone goal in the 10th minute. Ava Detorie whipped a cross into the box that was headed into the upper right corner of the cage by Ally Stanton. It was Stanton's fourth goal of the season.
- In the 14th minute, senior Marjorie Plants had a shot from just outside the 18-yard box punched aside by Hickey.
- Sophomore Kaleigh Darby had an attempt stopped by Hickey in the 31st minute.
- Ithaca nearly took a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute, but Sarah Sinott's shot was stopped by Nelson.
- Darby had another attempt stopped by Hickey in the 48th minute.
- William Smith nearly tied the game in the 89th minute, but Darby's shot trickled just past the right goal post.
