POTSDAM, N.Y.—William Smith senior
Lindsay Ringbloom scored a pair of goals in the second half to propel the 11th-ranked Herons past Clarkson 3-0 in a Liberty League contest on Hantz Field this afternoon. With the win, William Smith is now 6-3-2 overall this season with a 2-1-1 mark in conference play.
Ringbloom added an assist to finish the game with five points. Junior
Ruth Hotaling had two assists in the win. Graduate student
Kirsten Nelson played all started in goal and made one save.
Molly DiCaprio played all 90 minutes in goal for Clarkson (3-5-2, 0-2-1). She made two saves.
MATCH MOMENTS
- William Smith's best chance came in the opening 45 minutes came in the 18th minute when Ringbloom headed a crossing pass over the crossbar.
- In the 29th minute, Clarkson's Brooke Butler nearly broke the deadlock, but a Heron defender cleared her shot off of the goal line.
- The Herons came out of the halftime and scored 27 seconds into the second half. Ringbloom headed a crossing pass for her third goal of the season. Hotaling was awarded an assist on the goal.
- Seventy-six seconds later, Ringbloom pocketed her fourth goal of the season. She settled a crossing pass from Hotaling with her right foot, turned and fired a shot past DiCaprio
- Senior Marissa Mastracco gave the Herons a three-goal lead at the 55-minute mark. Mastracco hit a slow roller across the goal line for her first goal of the season. Ringbloom and senior Ireland Krawczyk were awarded assists on the goal.
- In the 60th minute, Emma Robinson had a chance to end the shutout, but her shot was turned aside by Nelson.
