OSWEGO, N.Y.—The William Smith hockey team was edged by Oswego, which was receiving votes in the USCHO.com poll, 2-1 in a non-conference contest at The Deborah F. Stanley Arena this evening.

Brianna Felice scored the goal for the Herons. Senior
Erin Murray played just under 59 minutes in goal and made 30 saves.
Helen Vandamme had a game-high two assists in the win for Oswego. Lexi Levy played all 60 minutes in goal and made 21 saves.

- Now in its 10th season, William Smith is now 6-3-1 all-time in season openers.
SCORING SUMMARY
- William Smith opened the scoring at the 2:26 mark of the first period. Felice intercepted a pass in the neutral zone, broke into the offensive zone and flipped a shot over Levy.
- The Lakers tied the game at 12:26 of the opening frame. Elizabeth Cooley poked home a loose puck for her first goal of the season. Vandamme had an assist on the power-play goal.
- Erika Parenti scored the game-winning goal just past the midway point of the third period. She redirected a Vandamme shot past Murray. It was a power-play goal.
FINAL FLURY
- William Smith had its chances to tie the game late in regulation with the goalie pulled, but they could not sneak another shot past Levy. Senior Annabel Ziskin had a chance from the point turned aside by a glove save from Levy.
- First-year Rowan Kennedy had a chance at the buzzer that was stopped by the Oswego goalie.

- The Lakers finished the game with a 32-22 advantage in shots on goal.
