GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team was edged by Oswego 2-1 in overtime in a non-conference contest at The Cooler this evening.
Senior
Kayla Ketchabaw scored the goal for the Herons. Senior
Erin Murray played 60:32 minutes in goal for William Smith (0-2-0) and made 27 saves.
Mack Hull scored the game-winning goal 49 seconds into overtime. Brittany Iversen also had a goal for Oswego (2-0-0). Lexi Levy started in goal and made 17 saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Oswego finished the game with a 29-18 advantage in shots on goal.
- Neither team scored a power-play goal. Both teams finished 0-for-3 on the extra skater.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Iversen opened the scoring at the 5:32 mark of the first period. She backhanded a shot from the right faceoff circle past Murray for her first goal of the season. Rachel Corbett and Solana Zizzo had assists on the goal.
- Ketchabaw tied the game with nine seconds left in regulation. She collected a pass from senior Lauren Legler, beat a defender and wristed a shot into the upper right corner of the cage. First-year Bella Hacker also had an assist on the goal.
- Hull's unassisted goal 49 seconds into the extra session was her first goal of the season. She collected a loose puck in her own zone, raced the length of the ice and snapped a shot past Murray.
CLOSE CALLS
- William Smith had a chance to win the game seven seconds into overtime, but Mackenzie O'Neil's shot from the slot was stopped by Levy.
- Annabel Ziskin also had a chance in the extra frame, but she could not sneak a shot past Levy.

William Smith will be back in action next weekend, Nov. 8-9, when it welcomes Albertus Magnus to The Cooler for a pair of New England Hockey Conference contests. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and Saturday's game will begin at 4 p.m.
