GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart juniors
Kahlil Fontana and
Tanner Daniels combined for five goals as the top-ranked Statesmen raced past UMass Boston 7-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this evening. Fontana recorded his first collegiate hat trick as Hobart improved to 5-0-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in NEHC play.
Daniels had two goals and added an assist to match Fontana with three points. Senior

Callum Chau had two assists each. Junior
Damon Beaver started in goal and made 21 saves. He added an assist as he improved to 3-0-0 on the season.
Chris Repmann scored for UMass Boston (0-4-0, 0-3-0). Tyler Bost started in goal and made 31 saves in 40 minutes of work. Sal Carabelli came on for the third period and made 12 saves.
STREAKING
- Hobart extended its winning streak to 19 games. That is the ninth longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
- The Statesmen are unbeaten in their last 30 contests (29-0-1). That is the fifth longest mark in Division III history.
- Hobart has won 40 straight games at The Cooler.

SCORING SUMMARY
- UMass Boston opened the scoring at the 10:41 mark of the first period. Repmann fired a shot from the right faceoff circle that trickled past Beaver. His first goal of the season was assisted by Koyle Bankauskas and Jacob Kaminski.
- The Statesmen tied the game 13 seconds later. Daniels raced down the right wing and stuffed a shot past Bost for his fourth goal of the year. Shell and senior Matthew Perryman were awarded assists on the goal.
- Fontana scored the game-winning goal at the 18:29 mark of the opening frame. His centering pass hit off a defenseman's stick and into the back of the net. Senior Matthew Iasenza had an assist on the goal.
- Senior Luke Aquaro gave Hobart a 3-1 lead 52 seconds into the middle stanza. He redirected a pass from Shell past Bost. Daniels also had an assist on the goal.
- First-year Nick Dimatos scored his first collegiate goal just over nine minutes into the frame. He ripped a shot from the point past Bost. The power-play goal was assisted by Chau and junior Ignat Belov.
- Fontana rounded out the second period with his second goal of the game. He wristed home a shot from the right faceoff circle. The power-play goal was assisted by sophomore Connor Lally and Beaver, who started the play in his own end of the rink.
- Daniels scored his second goal of the game at the 3:05 mark of the third period. He snapped a shot from the left faceoff circle past Carabelli. His fifth goal of the season was assisted by graduate student Austin Mourar.
- Four minutes later Fontana completed his hat trick. He fired a shot that banked off the left goal post and into the back of the net. The goal was assisted by Chau and Dimatos.
