GORHAM, Maine—The William Smith ice hockey team was edged by Southern Maine 2-1 in overtime in a New England Hockey Conference contest at USM Ice Arena this evening. With loss, William Smith falls to 2-3-0 on the season with a 2-1-0 mark in NEHC play.

Brianna Felice scored for the Herons. Fellow senior
Erin Murray played every minute in goal and made 25 saves.
Olivia Stewart and Jillian Jackson scored for the Huskies (3-1-1, 2-0-1). Haley McKim went the distance in goal and made 28 saves.

- William Smith opened the scoring at the 12:19 mark of the first period. Felice redirected a shot from first-year Anna Tardiff past McKim. It was her second goal of the season. First-year Natalie May also had an assist on the goal.
- Southern Maine tied the game at the 12:58 mark of the third period. Olivia Stewart picked up a loose puck in the slot and slipped it past Murray. Her first goal of the season was assisted by Madelyn McLeish and Saige Macleod.
- Jillian Jackson won the game 40 seconds into the overtime period. She one timed a centering pass from Saige Macleod into the back of the net. It was his first goal of the season.
