GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team scored twice in the first period and never looked back as it defeated Albertus Magnus 2-0 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this evening. It was the league opener for both teams.
First-year
Bella Hacker and senior
Annabel Ziskin scored for William Smith. Senior
Erin Murray started in goal and made 14 saves.
Christmas Johnson played all 60 minutes in goal for the Falcons. She made 44 saves.

FIRST PERIOD
- William Smith opened the scoring 72 seconds into the game. Hacker snapped a shot from the low slot past Johnson for her first collegiate goal.Mackenzie O'Neil had an assist on the goal.
- Ziskin gave the Herons a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal. Her second goal of the season was assisted by Brianna Felice and Lauren Legler. Ziskin fired a shot from the right faceoff circle past Johnson. It was her first goal of the season.
- Senior Mackenzie O'Neil nearly gave William Smith a 3-0 lead at the 8:04 mark of the opening frame, but her shot was stopped by Johnson.
THE FINAL 40
- William Smith finished the second period with a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Herons applied the pressure throughout the frame, but Johnson stood tall stopping all 14 shots she faced.
- In the final frame, William Smith outshot the Falcons 18-4.
- Just past the midway point of the period. O'Neil appeared to cleanly beat Johnson, but the puck hit the crossbar.
