DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Sophomore Giana Lobozzo dropped a career-high 15 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds as the William Smith basketball team concluded action at the 2024 Mauro Panaggio Tournament with a 99-53 loss to host SUNY Brockport this afternoon.
Along with her 15 points and seven rebounds, Lobozzo added four steals, and three assists for the Herons. Classmate Amelia McCulley added eight points, two rebounds, two blocks and one steal while senior Molly Walsh chipped in seven points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in the loss.
The Golden Eagles had four players drop double digit points and were led by Peyton Maneri Stephanie Jean-Baptiste with 17 points each. The duo combined for 12 assists, 10 steals and four rebounds. Kaileigh Hunt chipped in 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Cam Tooley added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists in the win for Brockport.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a back-and-forth start to the game, Brockport went on 9-0 run and shot 59% from the floor to grab a 13 point lead after the first quarter.
- The Herons tried to chip away at the Golden Eagle lead in the second quarter as they found a spark from behind the three point line. Brockport continued to apply the pressure and found crucial points in the paint to maintain an 18 point lead heading into halftime.
- The Golden Eagles had a strong defensive third quarter as they held the Herons to just 10 points. They matched that with a balanced offense that shot 48% from the floor in the quarter, including a 63% showing from the free throw line.
- William Smith fought back with their best offensive quarter in the fourth but Brockport used the clock to their advantage as they closed out the Mauro Panaggio Tournament with a win.
FOR THE RECORD
- William Smith is now 0-8 to start the season and will look for its first win in the new year.
- With their second win over the Herons this season, Brockport moves to 7-2 overall.
