BEVERLY HILLS, Mich.—Junior midfielder
John Jude Considine recorded his fourth career hat trick, but Hobart suffered an 18-8 loss at nationally-ranked Michigan this afternoon.
Considine scored all three of his goal in the first half, keeping the Statesmen in contention. Senior

Adam Shea won 13-of-25 faceoffs and was credited with a team-high four ground balls. Senior defensive midfielder
Nicky Gullace logged two of Hobart's four caused turnovers. Sophomore goalie
Elhanan Wilson made 10 saves.
Michigan, ranked No. 13 in the coaches poll and No. 14 in the media poll, got 15 points from its starting attack. Michael Boehm recorded a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists. Justin Tiernan scored five goals and Ryan Cohen had two goals and an assist. Justin Wietfeldt won 11-of-20 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high seven ground balls. Goalie Hunter Taylor played just over 55 minutes and made 12 saves to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen played the Wolverines even in the first quarter. Considine scored twice, while Boehm and Tiernan tallied for the home team to make it 2-2 after 15 minutes.
- Junior Will Delano scored an extra-man goal early in the second quarter to give Hobart the lead.
- Michigan equalized with the man advantage just over a minute later. Both teams were 1-for-3 with the extra-man.
- The Wolverines staked out a 5-3 lead with two more quick goals, but Considine and junior Alex Rosa scored in succession to knot the game at 5 with just under four minutes left in the first half.
- Cohen capped the first half scoring to send UM into the break with the lead, and then he scored the first goal of the second half to double the home team's lead.
- Dattellas scored to make it 7-6, but Michigan found another gear, rattling off 11 straight goals over the next 23 minutes to put the game out of reach.
- Junior James Greene and first-year Chris Patterson wrapped up the day's scoring in the final two minutes.

- Hobart slips to 0-2 with both losses at the hands of nationally-ranked foes.
- Michigan improves to 2-1.
UP NEXT
- The Statesmen will return home to face I-90 rival Canisius (1-1) at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20.
- The Golden Griffins opened their season at Michigan, suffering a 21-5 loss on Feb. 13.
- Tuesday's game will be the 24th all-time meeting between Hobart and Canisius. The Statesmen lead the series 22-1.
