Herons host Pioneers in spring opener Saturday

2/23/2024 1:39:00 PM

The William Smith tennis team will welcome Smith College to Geneva this Saturday to open its spring season. First serve between the Herons and the Pioneers is set for 1:30 p.m. in Bristol Field House.

William Smith is 0-1 in dual matches this season after falling to Daemen University 5-4 back in September. The Herons are looking to build off a successful fall in tournament play that saw sophomore Haley Levine and junior Natalie Haythorn participate in the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.

Smith brings a 2-0 record to Geneva and is coming off a 6-3 win over Nichols College on Feb. 17. First-year Sabrina Wang clinched the match for the Pioneers over the Bison. Smith's first win of the season came against Clark University on Oct. 3, as the Pioneers swept the Cougars 9-0.

This will be the first meeting between William Smith and Smith College in program history.
