Daniel Sappia and
Aiden Kemora posted their first career double-doubles, but No. 10 Vassar upended No. 16 Hobart 3-1 (21-25, 30-28, 25-19, 25-23) in United Volleyball Conference action this afternoon.
Sappia recorded a match and season-high 19 kills to go with a season-high 11 digs. Kemora logged 10 kills and a season-high 12 digs. Kemora hit a match high .391, while Sappia hit .308. Graduate student

The Brewers' Jacob Kim notched a triple double on 17 kills, 16 assists and 10 digs. Payne Lounsbery added 12 kills, hitting a team-high .304. Setter AJ Erickson has a team-high 27 assists.

- Hobart outhit Vassar .272 to .216.
- The Statesmen were done in by service errors. Hobart committed 20 to the Brewers 10.
FIRST SET
- The Statesmen used a 6-1 run in the middle of the first set to turn a one-point deficit into a 15-11 lead.
- Vassar rallied to tie the set at 19 and again at 20, before Hobart ripped off a 5-1 run to earn the first point.
- Andrew Kim had the hot hand in the stretch run, logging back-to-back-to-back kills followed by an ace for a 24-20 lead.
TURNING POINT
- The second set was hotly contested with neither side able to get more than a three-point cushion.
- Vassar led 23-22, but a Kemora kill and a Magni ace gave Hobart a chance to serve for the set and a 2-0 lead.
- Instead of a commanding lead, a Statesmen service error tied the set at 24. Hobart had another set point at 25-24, but again couldn't put down a winner.
- Vassar also had a pair of set points before succeeding on its third try to even the match at 1-1.
- The Brewers scored the first three points of the third set and never trailed to push Hobart to the brink.
- Vassar, which played in the national semifinals last season, didn't allow Hobart to take a lead in the fourth set to close out the match.
- The Statesmen put up a fight to the end, using a 6-1 run to whittle a 23-17 deficit down to 24-23, but Lounsbery iced the match with his final kill.
FOR THE RECORD
- Vassar improved to 15-3 overall, 4-0 in UVC play.
- Hobart slipped to 11-5, 0-1 in the UVC.
