#34 Statesmen sweep BluGolds in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla.– The No. 34 ranked Hobart tennis team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 9-0 this afternoon in Orlando to move to 4-3 on the season. With the win, the Statesmen extend its win streak to four-straight.
 
The Statesmen swept doubles action and were led by senior Sean Pesin and sophomore Nick Fischer in the No. 1 position. The duo defeated Hunter Roseth and Colin Chapman 8-1 to move to 4-3 on the season. Juniors Hyat Oyer and Troy Steiner earned their third victory of the season as they defeated Demetri Bush and Pablo Rincon 8-3 in the No. 2 spot.
 
Junior Rahul Vallabhajosula and senior Winter Fagerberg defeated Ryan Fonseca and Sam Murillo 8-3 in the No. 3 spot to earn their second straight doubles victory this season.
 
Hobart dominated in singles action to complete the sweep of the BluGolds. Pesin won the closest match of the day in the No. 1 spot as he defeated Roseth 6-1, 4-6, 12-10. Fischer defeated Bush in the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-4, to move to 3-3 in dual matches.
 
Liberty League rookie of the week Achilleas Kousaridis continued to shine for the Statesmen this afternoon. He defeated Rincon 6-1. 6-1, in the No. 3 spot to remain undefeated and move to 6-0 on the season.
 
Oyer clinched the victory for Hobart as he grabbed a 6-3, 6-2 win over Chapman in the No. 4 spot to move to 4-3 on the season. Fagerberg moves to 3-3 in dual matches with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Murillo in the No. 5 spot. Junior Nick Grosso defeated Fonseco 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 spot to move to 4-3 on the season.

UP NEXT: 

Hobart will be back in action Wednesday, March 20, when it closes out action in Orlando against Luther College. First serve between the Statesmen and the Norse is set for 8 a.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.
