ORLANDO, Fla.—The William Smith tennis team opened its spring break trip with an 8-1 win over Oglethorpe University on Sunday and a 7-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday. With the split, the Herons now sit at 2-4 on the season.
In Sunday's win over the Stormy Petrels, the Herons won all three doubles matches. Sophomore
Haley Levine and junior
Isabelle Goings-Perrot defeated Izzy Forster and Brianna Ali 8-1 in the No. 1 spot to move to 2-2 on the season. Sophomores
Marin Montagne and
Maddy Buck earned their first dual match victory of the season as they defeated Alexis Salgueiro and Maddie Nolan 8-0 in the No. 2 spot. The duo of junior

Teghan Torrey made their season debut in the No. 3 spot, and defeated Taylor Glover and Adeline Horton 8-1.

Natalie Haythorn led William Smith from the No. 2 singles spot, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ali to move to 2-3 on the season. First-year
Grace Magna won in a thrilling tiebreaker in the No. 3 spot, defeating Salgueiro 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-4. Junior
Julia Pida also was forced to a tiebreaker against Nolen but grabbed her second victory of the season, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.

Charlotte Sanford and sophomore
Lizzy Legg saw their first dual match action of the season for the Herons, with both earning their first victories of the season. Sanford defeated Glover 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 in the No. 5 spot, while Legg defeated Horton 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 6 position.
In William Smith's 7-2 loss to the BluGolds, the Herons earned their two points in singles action. First-year
Mae Kellersman defeated Morgan Dekan in a thrilling match in the No. 3 spot. Kellersman earned her second victory of the season with a 6-2, 3-6, 14-12, win. Montagne moved to 3-0 on the season in dual matches with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tea Armstrong in the No. 6 spot.
Goings-Perrot and Levine put up a fight in doubles play, falling 8-7 (7-3) in the No. 1 spot to Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee.
