GENEVA, N.Y.— The William Smith College tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Nazareth this afternoon in nonconference action at the HWS Tennis Center. The Herons move to 3-6 on the season, while the Golden Flyers fall to 5-9.
William Smith put on a dominant performance in doubles play, winning all three available points. Juniors
Natalie Haythorn and
Julia Pida defeated Catherine Zak and Kenna Ellis 8-3 in the No. 1 spot to move to 2-2 in dual matches. First-years
Grace Magna and
Mae Kellersman defeated Sarah Stone and Ali Klee 8-1 in the No. 2 spot, while sophomores
Marin Montagne and
Maddy Buck moved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-2 win over Erica Muscato and Victoria Cioni in the No. 3 spot.
The Herons continued to impress in singles play, winning five-of-six matches against the Golden Flyers. Levine defeated Zak in a thrilling match at the No. 1 position for her second win of the season. After falling behind in the tiebreaker, Levine went on to win five-straight points to defeat Zak 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
Goings-Perrot defeated Ellis 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 2 spot for her first dual match win of the season. Montagne moves to 4-2 in dual matches this season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Klee in the No. 3 spot.
Pida got back in the win column with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Stone in the No. 4 spot. Buck remains undefeated in dual matches and moves to 3-0 with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win over Aly Agnello.

William Smith will be back in action Friday, March 29, when it welcomes Ithaca to Geneva for a Liberty League matchup. First serve between the Herons and the Bombers is set for 1 p.m. at the HWS Tennis Center.
