ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The University of Rochester baseball team used a six-run fifth inning to take the lead for good in a 14-7 Liberty League win over Hobart this afternoon. The Yellowjackets improved to 8-10 overall, 3-1 in the Liberty League, while the Statesmen slipped to 5-10, 0-3.

Nate Garrett each posting two hits. Garrett had a single and a triple and scored twice.
Alec Ellison and Luke Blozy had three hits apiece accounting for two-thirds of the team's hits. Ellison was a home run short of the cycle and drove home five runs. Thomas Blaydes threw 4 2-3 innings out of the bullpen, striking out seven to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Johnson singled to center in the top of the first to bring Garvin home and give the visitors the early lead.
- Hobart added three more runs in the second. With runners on first and second, first-year Jack Byrnes put down a sacrifice bunt. Rochester attempted to get the lead runner, but a throwing error allowed Garrett to score. Petry and Garvin added sacrifice flies to make it a 4-0 game.
- Over the next three innings, Rochester rallied to take a 5-4 lead.
- Garrett tied the game in the top of the fifth, driving a triple into the right centerfield gap and then scoring on a balk.
- In the pivotal bottom of the fifth, Hobart retired the first batter, but a hit-by-pitch, a single and a walk loaded the bases, then a second straight walk brought home the go-ahead run.
- Colby Cruser delivered a two-run single through the left side to make it 8-5.
- Ellison plated two more with his triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly for an 11-5 lead.
