ONEONTA, N.Y.—The Hobart baseball team swept a doubleheader against SUNY Cobleskill this afternoon. Sophomore
Teck Nash hurled a two-hit shutout to lead the Statesmen to a 9-0 win in Game 1, while Hobart rallied from a three-run deficit to win Game 2 9-5.

Christian Petry was 4-for-9 on the day with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Sophomore
Will Jones was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs. First-year
Connor Schmiedlin was 3-for-6 with a team-high seven RBIs and two runs scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME 1
- Nash pitched a gem in the opener. He faced only two batters over the minimum through four innings and didn't give up his first hit until there were two outs in the fifth. Nash finished with four strikeouts, just two walks and two hits allowed in seven innings of work.
- At the dish, Hobart loaded the bases in the top of the first. Jones gave Nash all the support he needed with an RBI single.
- Schmiedlin walked to bring home a second run and Gavin Brignall's one-out grounder to second erased Schmiedlin on the bases but brought Jones home.
- The Statesmen padded their lead with six more runs in the top of the seventh. Schmiedlin delivered the big blow, a bases loaded triple.
- Nash nailed down the win with a perfect bottom half of the inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME 2
- Hobart manufactured the first run of Game 2 in the top of the second. Jones reached on a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Schmiedlin brought him home with a ground out to second.
- The Tigers claimed their only lead of the day in the bottom half of the inning when Samuel Gutierrez clubbed a grand slam.
- In the top of the third, the Statesmen used back-to-back-to-back RBI hits to tie the game. Petry, senior Ty Gallagher and Schmiedlin went single, double, single to wipe out the Cobleskill lead.
- Hobart broke the game open in the seventh. Schmiedlin doubled home the go-ahead run and then scored what proved to be the game winner on a wild pitch.
- Petry added a two-run single to make it 8-4.
- The Statesmen added another run got caught in a run-down between second and third but avoided making the final out of the inning long enough for Sean Garvin to scramble home.
- The Tigers (2-7) pushed across one run with two outs in the seventh but got no closer.
- Junior Griffin Snyder started and pitched four innings. Junior Nicholas Franceschi struck out five over the final three innings, earning his first win for Hobart.

"We got the big hits from Schmiedlin in both games, but offensively we came at them from top to bottom. Teck was dominant on the mound and our defense made big plays when we needed them. Griff competed and Franch finished it out with three big innings."
GAME NOTES
- It's the first doubleheader sweep for Hobart since returning to varsity status last season. The Statesmen last swept a doubleheader on April 28, 1995, taking two from Skidmore.
- Franceschi leads the Statesmen with 13 strikeouts in three appearances this season.

- Hobart (2-4) will continue its 11-game road trip with a doubleheader at Purchase (3-2) tomorrow at 11 a.m.
