Herons host 3 matches this weekend

The William Smith tennis team will be back in action this weekend as it hosts three matches during its alumnae weekend. The Herons will take on NYU and Bard on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. They will then take on Liberty League foe RPI on Sunday at 10 a.m. The location of the matches will depend on the weather.
 
William Smith is 4-9 this season and is coming off a 6-3 loss to then No. 50 Union on Sunday. The Herons look for their first Liberty League win of the season against Bard on Saturday.

NYU brings a 3-3 record to Geneva. The Violets are coming off a 5-0 loss to No. 13 Amherst on Saturday.
 
Bard is 2-4 this season and 0-3 in conference play. The Raptors are coming off a 9-0 loss to then No. 38 Skidmore on Sunday.
 
RPI is 7-4 on the season with a 1-1 record in the Liberty League and will face off against the University of Rochester and RIT before heading to Geneva to take on the Herons. The Engineers are coming off an 8-1 loss to the Thoroughbreds on Saturday.
 
Fans who can't make it to Geneva this weekend can follow the action with live video courtesy of hwsathletics.com. If the matches move inside, there will be no live video.

ABOUT THE HERONS 
  • Sophomore Marin Montagne leads William Smith in singles play with a 7-3 record. She is 3-1 in the No. 5 spot.
  • Junior Julia Pida is 3-4 in dual matches this season, including a 3-0 mark in the No. 4 spot.
  • Sophomore Maddy Buck is undefeated in dual match singles play with a 3-0 record.
  • In doubles play, sophomore Haley Levine and junior Isabelle Goings-Perrot lead the Herons. They are 4-6 from the No. 1 spot and are coming off an 8-6 win against Union's Gracie Nicol and Chara Meidani.

  • Dakota Fordham is 3-1 in singles play this season in the No. 2 spot.
  • Fordham and Isabella Hartman are ranked No. 9 in the ITA Northeast Region doubles rankings. The duo is 3-3 in dual matches at the No. 1 spot and 11-6 overall.
  • Menendez and Molly Heber are 4-1 in doubles play in the No. 2 spot.
ABOUT THE RAPTORS
  • Hanna Okalava leads Bard in singles play and is 3-2 in the No. 1 spot in dual matches this season.
  • Izzi Popolizio is 2-2 in dual matches with a 2-1 record in the No. 5 spot.
