ROCHESTER, N.Y.– The No. 37 ranked Hobart tennis team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season with a 7-2 win over RIT this afternoon in a Liberty League matchup. The Statesmen move to 13-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Tigers fall to 5-9 overall with a 1-6 mark in the Liberty League.
Hobart took an early lead after doubles play, winning two of three available points. The reigning Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week, senior Sean Pesin and sophomore Nick Fischer, continued to impress for the Statesmen in the No. 1 spot, winning their seventh straight match. The duo defeated Grahith Movva and Luke Weber 8-6 to move to 12-4 in dual matches this season.
Senior Winter Fagerberg and junior Rahul Vallabhajosula moved into the No. 2 doubles position this afternoon and defeated Christian Berko and Verosh Jayanetti 8-7 (8-6). The duo moves to 9-2 on the season and gave Hobart a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
The Statesmen handled business in singles play, winning five of six matches over the Tigers. Fischer defeated Movva 6-4, 6-2 for his first win of the season in the No. 1 spot. He is now 8-7 in dual matches this season. Fagerberg won his second match of the day as he defeated Joel Pho 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. He is now 10-5 in his senior season.
Junior Nick Grosso jumped to the No. 4 spot against RIT this afternoon and defeated Max Chang 6-1, 6-2 to move to 12-4 on the season. Vallabhajosula remained perfect in singles play this season and moved to 3-0 after defeating Weber 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the No. 5 spot.
Junior Hyat Oyer grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 win over Alec Turcotte in the No. 2 spot to extend his win streak to five straight. Oyer officially clinched the win for the Statesmen and is now 13-4 on the season.

Hobart will be back in action on Sunday April 21, when it heads to Babson Park, Massachusetts, to take on No. 33 Babson (10-8) in a nonconference matchup. First serve between the Statesmen and the Beavers is set for 10 a.m., at the Babson Tennis Courts.
