HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart grabbed the lead in the top of the first when Gallagher singled to right to score Johnson who led off the game with a four-pitch walk.
- The Statesmen tacked on two more runs in the third. With the bases loaded, Gallagher grounded out to second, allowing first-year Jack Byrnes to score. The next batter, sophomore Will Jones, grounded out to short, allowing Johnson to come home.
- Meanwhile, Hobart starter sophomore Aaron Forgues faced just 14 batters through four innings yielding only a pair of walks while striking out two.
- With one out in the fifth, RIT got back-to-back singles from Charlie Slaymaker and John Bagley.
- With two outs, the pair moved up 90 feet on a balk and then both scored on a single by Dodig.
- Forgues finished the frame, allowing three hits and two runs in five innings.
- The Statesmen scored another run in the sixth, but ran themselves out of a more productive inning.
- With one out, first-year Connor Schmiedlin doubled down the left field line and Byrnes was hit by a pitch. Johnson singled to right to score Schmiedlin and send Byrnes to third. Right fielder Adam Marsh threw the ball to third and Johnson attempted to take second, but was cut down. When the throw went to third, Byrnes took off for home. He was called out on a very close play.
- In the ninth, RIT's first two batters drew walks. Kim put down a bunt to move the runners up, but Hobart pitcher Nicholas Franceschi's throw to first was wild, allowing a run to score. Franceschi hit the next batter loading the bases with no one out.
- The Statesmen called on first-year reliever Charlie Forrest to try to work out of the jam.
- He got the first batter to pop up to shallow center for the first out.
- Marsh followed with a sacrifice fly to right that tied the game, setting the table for Moses' game winner.
