Former Hobart Statesman Ethan O'Connor '13 is one of 23-players selected by USA Lacrosse to represent the United States in the World Lacrosse Box Championships, Sept. 20-29 in Utica, New York. A defenseman, he was previously chosen to represent the Stars and Stripes at the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, but was injured before the tournament began and missed out on the Americans' bronze medal run.

O'Connor graduated from Hobart with a bachelor's degree in economics. On the lacrosse field, the long-stick midfielder produced five goals, an assist, 116 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers during his Statesman career. In his senior season, O'Connor earned the Van Arsdale Award for superior scholarship, leadership, and determination. He led the 2013 team with a career-high 52 ground balls, picking up at least one in every game and logging three or more 12 times. O'Connor's academic work earned him a spot on the ECAC Lacrosse League All-Academic Team following his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

O'Connor just completed his ninth professional season in the National Lacrosse League. He was a first round draft choice of the Toronto Rock in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft. After his rookie season, he was traded and played the next three seasons with the Georgia Swarm. In 2019, he became a member of the Buffalo Bandits, helping the team win the 2023 NLL Championship. Following the championship run, he signed a two-year contract with the Rochester Knighthawks.

In 135 career NLL games, O'Connor has produced 15 points on four goals and 11 assists and 126 loose balls.

In addition to his pro lacrosse career, O'Connor works full-time as a group leader in account services at M&T Bank headquarters in Buffalo.
