ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team was edged by Rochester Institute of Technology 2-1 in a Liberty League contest on RIT Turf Field this evening. The game was the conference opener for both teams.
Sophomore
La Zai Outerbridge scored for the Statesmen. Junior
Thomas Chyzowych played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
Daniel Gebura and Da'vid Robinson notched the RIT goals. Jason Trapp started in goal and made two saves.
FOR THE RECORD
- RIT improves to 2-4-0 on the season and is 1-0-0 in conference play.
- Hobart is 0-4-2 overall with a 0-1-0 record in Liberty League play.

- The Tigers finished the game with a 10-9 edge in shots.

SCORING SUMMARY
- Outerbridge opened the scoring in the fourth minute. He broke up a clearing attempt and fired a shot from near the penalty spot into the lower right corner of the cage. It was his first goal of the season.
- The Tigers equalized in the 42nd minute. Gebura flicked a crossing pass over Chyzowych for his second goal of the season. David Brassie was awarded an assist on the goal after serving the corner kick into the box.
- Robinson scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute. After Chyzowych made the initial save on Idriss Diallo, Robinson pounced on the rebound and buried a shot in the back of the net. It was his first goal of the season.
MATCH MOMENTS
- Outerbridge nearly gave Hobart a 2-1 lead in the 44th minute, but his shot was blocked.
- In the 45th minute, senior Brian Sheehan fired a shot that just missed the left goalpost.
- Early in the second half, junior Matheus Souza had a chance that tested the RIT defense but trickled wide left.
- In the final 10 minutes of regulation, Souza and first-year Will Slayton had shots turned aside by Trapp.

Hobart will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when it begins a three-game homestand. The Statesmen will take on Ithaca at 4 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
