SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – To wrap up the 2024 fall season, the William Smith tennis team was represented by three Herons at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Women's Northeast Regional Championships this weekend held at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis Center.

The action for the Herons began in the singles bracket with junior Haley Levine taking on Samantha Rava from SUNY Geneseo. Levine defeated Rava by a score of 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the round of 32 where she then fell to Skidmore's Beilynn Geiss, 6-2, 6-2. Senior Natalie Haythorn took on Vera Bondarenko from NYU in her singles match. Haythorn put up a strong fight falling 6-2, 3-6, (10-8) in a tie breaker.

In doubles action, the pairing of Haythorn and senior Julia Pida took on Bondarenko and Maria Vitoria Salomao from NYU. The Herons fell in an 8-0 decision to the Violets.

William Smith will be back in action on Sunday, March 2, when it opens its spring schedule against SUNY Oneonta.
