FREDONIA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team knocked off Fredonia 5-0 in a non-conference contest at Steele Hall this afternoon. With the win, the Statesmen are now 15-0-0 to start the season.
 
Four Statesmen shared game-high honors with two points each. Sophomore 
Bauer Morrissey and graduate student 
Austin Mourar had a goal and an assist each. Junior 
Mavrick Goyer started in goal and stopped all 18 shots he faced as he earned his fourth shutout of the season.
 
Charles-Anthony Barbeau started in goal for the Blue Devils. He made a career-high 48 saves.
 
STREAKING
	- With today's win, Hobart extended its unbeaten streak to 40 games (39-0-1). Already the longest streak in men's college hockey, it matches the NCAA Division III hockey record of 40 set by the University Wisconsin-River Falls women's team earlier this year.
- Hobart is the fourth team in all of college hockey to post a 40-game unbeaten streak. The Boston College women went unbeaten over 40 games in 2016. The University of Minnesota women hold the all-time record at 62 in 2013.
- Hobart's win was its 29th in a row. That is the fourth-longest mark in NCAA Division III men's hockey.
- The Statesmen's 15 straight wins to start the year are the most in program history. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
	- Hobart finished the game with a 53-18 advantage in shots on goal.
- Hobart was 1-for-4 on the power play and Fredonia was 0-for-1 with the man advantage.  
SCORING SUMMARY
	- Hobart opened the scoring 62 seconds into the game on junior Kahlil Fontana's seventh goal of the season. Standing in front of Barbeau, he redirected a shot from Morrissey into the back of the net. Junior Tristan Fasig also had an assist on the goal.
- One minute later, first-year Connor Elliot fired a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that trickled past Barbeau. Elliot's first collegiate goal was assisted by first-year Josh Doolan.
- Senior Luke Aquaro extended Hobart's lead to three goals 24 seconds into the second period. He collected a pass from senior Shane Shell and wired a shot from the right faceoff circle under the crossbar. It was his eighth goal of the season. Mourar added an assist on the tally.
-  Morrissey gave Hobart a four-goal lead at the 10:14 mark of the third period. He broke up a clearing attempt in the neutral zone, deked around a defender and snapped a shot past Barbeau for his second goal of the season. It was a power-play goal.
- Mourar added an insurance goal with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. Fasig and Shell had assists on the goal.
RECORD WATCH
	- Today's shutout was Goyer's fourth of the season. That moved him into a tie for fourth on Hobart's single-season list. It was the 12th of his career. Goyer is second Hobart's career list.
- Hobart's seven shutouts this season are third on the program's single-season list. The Statesmen had nine in 2022-23 and 13 last year.
- With a goal, today, Aquaro now has 62 for his career. He is two behind Phill McCarthy '91, who is fourth on Hobart's career list.
- With two assists today, Shane Shell has 54 career assists. He is tied for 15th on Hobart's career list.

Hobart will return home next weekend, Jan. 24-25, when it welcomes Norwich to The Cooler for a weekend slate. The Cadets will enter the weekend second in the NEHC with 23 points.
