The William Smith basketball team will host its annual alumnae weekend this week as it hosts two conference matchups against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Herons will take on the Saints on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and will close out the weekend with a matchup against the Golden Knights on Saturday at 2 p.m.
From approximately 5Â p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Momma's Got You food truck will be outside Bristol Gym serving food to fans. HWS students, faculty and staff will receive one item free with their OneCard courtesy of HWS Athletics.
Fans who can't make it to Geneva can follow the games with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The games will also be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
ABOUT THE HERONS (2-13, 2-6 LL)
- William Smith is coming off a conference split last weekend as the Herons defeated Bard 63-62 on Friday before falling to Skidmore 75-61 on Saturday.
- Sophomore Amelia McCulley leads the team and ranks eighth in the Liberty League in scoring, averaging 12.3 ppg. She is followed by classmate Giana Lobozzo who averages 7.7 ppg.
- Sophomore Ava Lobozzo grabs a team-leading 5.1 rpg, which ranks 22nd in the conference. She is followed by McCully and first-year Jojo Sulmasy with 4.7 and 4.5 rpg, respectively.Â
- McCulley also leads the Liberty League in blocked shots, averaging 1.9 per game, and ranks eighth in 3-pointers per game (1.5).
- Giana Lobozzo leads the team and ranks 20th in the conference with 2.0 apg. Senior Molly Walsh dishes out 1.7 apg which ranks 24th in the league.
- On the defensive end, Giana Lobozzo is second in the Liberty League in steals, averaging 2.4 per game. Ava Lobozzo is 25th in the conference in that category, averaging 1.1 spg. Â
ABOUT THE SAINTS (9-5, 4-4 LL)
- St. Lawrence is coming off a 79-59 loss to Ithaca on Saturday.
- Elizabeth Flynn leads the team in scoring at 12.1 ppg. She is followed by Jackie Malley who averages 10.5 ppg.
- Flynn also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 10.2 rpg. Mason Baker-Schlendering follows behind with 5.6 rpg.
- Caelan McHarny leads the team in assists, averaging 2.9 apg, while Flynn leads the team in steals, averaging 1.7 spg. Flynn also chips in 0.9 blocks per game.
- This will be the 82nd matchup between William Smith and St. Lawrence. The Herons lead the series 43-38, including a 24-16 edge in Geneva.
- The Saints won the last matchup 59-47 against the Herons in Geneva. McCulley tallied 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (5-10, 1-7 LL)
- Clarkson is coming off a 60-45 loss to Union on Saturday.
- Bella Doyle leads the Golden Knights in scoring, averaging 11.9 ppg. She is followed by Cassidy Dumont with 10.3 ppg.Â
- Doyle also leads the team and is sixth in the Liberty League in rebounds, averaging 6.8 rpg. She is followed by Elizabeth Aiossa who averages 5.3 rpg.
- Doyle averages a team-leading 3.0 apg, while Dumont forces a team-leading 1.8 spg. Doyle also chips in 1.4 bpg for Clarkson.
- Saturday's game will be the 76th meeting between William Smith and Clarkson. The Herons hold a 55-20 advantage in the series, including a 31-6 edge in Geneva.
- Last season, the Herons swept the series with the Golden Knights. William Smith defeated Clarkson 56-47 in Geneva on Feb. 2, 2024. McCulley led the team with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
