PINE VALLEY, N.Y.—The William Smith College hockey team was downed by Elmira 4-0 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at the Murray Athletic Center this afternoon. The Soaring Eagles used a three-goal third period to pull away for the victory.

Erin Murray played all 60 minutes in goal for the Herons and made 37 saves.
McKenzie Schmidt led Elmira, recording three points on two goals and an assist. Anna Lugge added a goal and an assist for the home team. Sara Sevcikova started in goal for Elmira and made 25 saves.

- William Smith is now 9-10-1 overall this season with a 9-4-0 mark in NEHC play.
- Elmira improves to 12-8-1 with a 9-3-1 mark in conference play.

MATCH MOMENTS
- Three minutes into the second period, First-year Madison Twombly broke up a play along the left wing, skated into the left faceoff circle but had her shot turned aside by Sevcikova.
- Thirty seconds later, Schmidt gave Elmira a 1-0 lead. She raced down the left wing and slipped a backhander past Murray. Anna Lugge and Bri Conger were awarded assists on the goal.
- Seven minutes into the period, Seneca Urban nearly tied the game but she wristed a shot from the slot over the crossbar.
- Erika Goleniak gave Elmira a 2-0 lead just before the eight-minute mark of the middle stanza. She wristed a shot from the slot past Murray. Schmidt had an assist on the goal.
- Schmidt gave Elmira a 3-0 lead at the 11:32 mark of the Stanza. Standing on the right goal post she picked up a rebound and shot the puck into an empty net. Emily Lenzen and Sophie Gregory had assists on the power-play goal.
- Lugge tacked on an insurance goal with just over three minutes remaining in regulation. She poked a loose puck over the goal line. Iliana Smith had an assist on the goal.
