PINE VALLEY, N.Y.—The William Smith hockey team was defeated by Elmira 4-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Murray Athletic Center this evening.

Mackenzie O'Neil had the goal for William Smith. Sophomore
Mia Iwicki played just over 58 minutes in goal and made a career-high 33 saves.
For the second straight game, Mackenzie Schmidt led the Soaring Eagles with two goals and an assist. Erika Goleniak (2a), Gabby Dougherty (2a) and Anna Lugge (1g, 1a) also had multi-point games for Elmira. Emily Finach made 22 saves.

- With the weekend sweep Elmira is 13-7-1 overall this season with a 10-3-1 mark in conference play.
- William Smith falls to 9-11-1 overall and 9-5-0 in NEHC play.

- Elmira finished the game with a 37-23 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Soaring Eagles were 1-for-3 on the power play and William Smith was 0-for-3 with the extra skater.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Elmira opened the scoring at the 11:22 mark of the first period. Schmidt flipped a shot from the right side past Iwicki. The goal was assisted by Luggee and Goleniak.
- The Soaring Eagles took a 2-0 lead at the 12:52 mark of the middle stanza. She snapped a shot from the point across the goal line. Her power-play goal was assisted by Goleniak and Dougherty.
- Two minutes later, Lugge gave Elmira a three-goal lead. Her goal was assisted by Schmidt.
- O'Neil broke up the shutout bid at the 17:13 mark of the third period. She wristed a shot past Finach for her fourth goal of the year. First-year Madeline Diglio was awarded an assist on the tally after blocking a shot in the defensive end.
- Schmit tacked on an empty-net goal to seal the victory for Elmira. It was assisted by Gabby Dougherty.

William Smith will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 7-8, when it welcomes Salve Regina to The Cooler. The Seahawks are currently second in the conference standings.
