ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The William Smith volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Bard in a Liberty League contest at the Raptors' Stevenson Athletic Center this evening. With the win, the Herons improve to 15-2 overall and 3-0 in Liberty League play. Bard falls to 3-13 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
William Smith dominated the stat sheet, finishing with 39 kills while hitting .464. The Raptors had 15 kills and hit .111. The Herons had 16 aces in the game. Bard had a 3-2 edge in blocks.
Senior
Malya Sayre had a match-high 20 kills while hitting .500 through three sets. She added four digs and four aces. Sophomore
Kali Vanderhoof had 14 digs and a season-high six service aces. Senior

Emily Fulton chipped in six kills each.
Nyla Lawrence and Becca Wintjen led the way for the Raptors with four kills each. Lawrence hit .150 and added three solo blocks. Fernanda Julian had a team-high seven assists.
MATCH MOMENTS
- The Herons came out on fire in the opening set. They hit .565 while putting down 14 kills. Bard hit .158 in the first set with four kills. William Smith went up 10-0 after a strong service run from Fulton and never looked back. The Herons took set one 25-6. Sayre led William Smith with eight kills in the set.
- William Smith had 10 kills in set two while hitting .190. The Raptors had a match-low three kills in the middle set, hitting -.004. Vanderhoof had three of her six aces in set two for the Herons and Fulton had four kills. William Smith took the middle set 25-9, finishing on an 8-1 run.
- The Herons closed out the sweep with another strong performance in the third set, combining for 15 kills (.600) as a team. Bard had eight kills (.263) in the final set. Sayre had nine kills in set three and closed out the match with one of her four service aces. The Herons took set three 25-13
MATCH STATS
- Sayre paced the Herons with 20 kills (.500), while McCarthy (.556) and Fulton (.500) chipped in six kills each. Sophomore Ariele Newsome had three kills and Delainy Williams added two kills on two attempts. Senior Hope Von Dohlen and junior Maren Hunt had one kill each.
- Williams added a match-high 33 assists and had five digs.
- The Herons combined for 36 digs in the match. Vanderhoof led the way with 14. Fulton added six digs while Williams and Sayre had five and four, respectively. Senior Cydney Fernandez logged four digs in the win.
- William Smith's 16 aces were the most in a match this season. Vanderhoof had six aces in the victory, followed by four from Sayre and Fulton. Williams and Fernandez also had aces.

William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when it takes on Vassar. The Liberty League match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie.
