Herons compete at Hamilton Fall Invitational

Box Score CLINTON, NY – The William Smith tennis team concluded its fall season at the Hamilton Fall Invitational over the weekend. The Herons were led by junior Mae Kellersman who was named to the Liberty League weekly honor roll after impressive performances at the two-day invite.

In singles play, Kellersman went 2-1 on the weekend, defeating Hamilton's Priyanka Challapalli 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, and Bates' Bella Saul 4-6, 6-3, 10-3, before falling to St. Lawrence's Ariane Karera 6-1, 7-5.

Senior Haley Levine also impressed in singles play and defeated Bates' Hannah Farber 6-1, 6-3, before falling to Hamilton's Grace Qian in a thrilling tiebreaker in the singles flight 1 bracket, 6-3, 0-6, 8-10. Sophomore Bethany Walker added a win for the Herons as she downed St. Lawrence's Maya Stepic 6-4, 3-6, 11-9, while senior Maddy Buck defeated St. Lawrence's Alexandra Fuller 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, William Smith collected two wins as Levine and junior Grace Magna defeated Hamilton's Qian and Hannah Walpole 6-0, and Buck and sophomore Mia Jacobs defeated St. Lawrence's Karera and Butler 6-3.

William Smith has concluded its fall season and will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 28, when it welcomes SUNY Oneonta to Bristol Field House for nonconference action. First-serve between the Herons and the Red Dragons is set for 3 p.m.
